LICENSE WAIVER INTERMEDIATE RIDER LICENSING COURSE OR SKILLS REFRESHER FOR LICENSED RIDERS:

MUST HAVE A MOTORCYCLE PERMIT OR CLASS M LICENSE TO REGISTER. 

THIS CLASS SCHEDULE: AN EVENING CLASSROOM SESSION 5:30 PM TO 9 PM (NO BIKE REQUIRED – CANNOT RIDE AFTER DARK ON A PERMIT) AND ONE FULL DAY OF RANGE-RIDING FROM 8 AM TO 5 PM (BIKE REQUIRED). MUST ATTEND BOTH CLASSROOM AND RIDING SESSIONS - CANNOT ARRIVE LATE OR LEAVE EARLY BECAUSE STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET. STUDENTS WHO SUCCESSFULLY PASS THE COURSE WILL RECEIVE A 90-DAY LICENSE WAIVER WHICH MEANS NO ADDITIONAL TESTING AT THE DDS.

Even if you have been riding for a while or just acquired a new motorcycle, there is always something new to learn. Let us help you hone your skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

Intermediate Rider Licensing Courses are designed for participants who have a few thousand miles under their belt riding their own motorcycle. The riding exercises are designed to enhance the following skills: control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment, straight-line stopping quickly & in a curve, swerving, and multiple curve maneuvers. As well, you'll discuss with your peers how to manage risk, increase visibility, optimize lane position, protective gear, motorcycle inspection & care, rider responsibility, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding. The course concludes with a Skills Evaluation and a Knowledge Test for those individuals in the License Waiver version.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • License Waiver / Skills Practice: 1.25 days, classroom & range-riding skills refresher and testing

Classes are conducted by dedicated Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified RiderCoaches.

You’ll learn higher level tips and techniques to help you own the road.

When you’re done, you’ll not only ride with more confidence than ever, you’ll earn an MSF Basic RiderCourseSM 2 Completion Card.

  • Fulfills the military & federal employee’s requirements for a motorcycle safety course.
  • May qualify you for a discount on motorcycle insurance.
  • Must complete all portions of your course to receive the completion documents.

TRAINING REQUIRES PHYSICAL MOVEMENT OF BIKE WITH ENGINES OFF AND ABILITY TO STAND AND RIDE FOR 90PLUS MINUTES BETWEEN BREAKS. SOME CLASSES MAY BE IN EXTREME SUN OR COLD OR HEAVY RAIN. PLEASE KEEP THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN MIND WHEN SIGNING UP. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR RESCHEDULES AVAILABLE FOR NON-COMPLETION OF THE COURSE.

THE SCHEDULE

License Waiver Class: MSF eCourse, Classroom, knowledge test, and range-riding skills test. Must attend both sessions and pass both tests. Usually scheduled over 1.25-day evening classroom (no bike required – cannot ride after dark on a permit) and range time (one full day). The cost for this course is $175.00.

  • Earn a 90-day license waiver from the Georgia Motorcycle Safety Foundation to get your GA motorcycle Class “M” license without any additional testing by the Department of Driver Services. License Waiver expires 90 days from your graduation date.

What will I need to register?

  • Valid motorcycle operator license/endorsement, or motorcycle Learner's Permit "MP".
  • Ability to ride the motorcycle to the class (during daylight hours only if on a M Permit)

Do I need any special gear?

You'll need to bring the following:

  • A street-ready motorcycle that meets minimum safety requirements.
  • Valid motorcycle operator license or Learner's Permit "MP".
  • Proof of valid registration to your vehicle.
  • Proof of valid motorcycle insurance for your vehicle.
  • A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Jeans, chaps, or leather pants - NO HOLES
  • Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear (motorcycle riding or hiking boots) - NO TENNIS SHOES
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • A helmet that meets DOT requirements
  • Eyewear

TUITION

The tuition is required after making your reservation and before the class to maintain your seat. DO NOT WAIT - classes fill up fast and there may be a waiting list.

CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING POLICY: There will be no refunds for ANY cancellation or request to reschedule a class made by a student within  7 full days of the first day of class. For example, classes starting on a Friday MUST be canceled or rescheduled no later than 6:00 PM on the Friday preceding the class in order to be eligible for refund or rescheduling. Class fee is forfeited if a student is a NO SHOW or attempts to cancel or reschedule within 7 days of their class start date.

Motorcycling is not for everyone. Some students may discover this for themselves during the course. At other times, struggling or uncertain students may be counseled out and unable to continue in the riding sessions. They are welcome to finish the classroom portions with the understanding that they will not receive a class completion card or a license waiver and are welcome to retake the entire course at a later date at the regular tuition price.

Coaches are required to maintain the safety of all participants. Any student creating an unsafe condition, as determined by the Coaches, will not be allowed to continue in the course.

There are NO REFUNDS for any reason or condition of non-completion of the course. You are welcome to retake the entire course at a later date at the regular tuition price.
